Quantum computing is transforming our understanding of what
computers can achieve. In this webinar, Aleksandr Sorokin, one of
the authors of the new teaching materials Quantum Computing in STEM Education,
will introduce practical approaches to teaching the foundations of
quantum physics in upper secondary classrooms.
The webinar is divided into two parts. The first part explores
how key concepts of quantum mechanics, including state,
measurement, and superposition, can be introduced in an accessible
way. In the second part, participants will discover how a
simulation of the quantum bomb-testing experiment (the
Elitzur–Vaidman experiment) can be used as a classroom activity,
enabling students to apply and deepen their understanding of the
concepts introduced earlier.
The content of this webinar is primarily aimed at upper
secondary physics teachers, but it is open to anyone
interested in gaining practical insights from one of the creators
of the teaching materials and discovering engaging ways to bring
quantum computing into the classroom.
About the Teaching Materials
Developed by Science on Stage Germany in collaboration with
teachers from across Europe, Quantum Computing in STEM Education
helps bring one of today's most exciting emerging technologies into
STEM classrooms. The modular resources cover physics, mathematics,
and computer science and can be used as individual lessons,
combined into customised learning sequences, or followed through
ready-made learning pathways.
